According to the latest available data, on an average, nine people die on the congested railway network of Mumbai every day. To provide prompt and affordable medical assistance to rail accident victims and commoners, the Central Railways in Mumbai plans to start “One Rupee Clinics” at nineteen railway stations in its first phase. The clinic at Ghatkopar station, which was inaugurated on Wednesday, is now fully functional. People are happy that they are they need to give only a token fee of Re 1 to see a doctor. The clinics will soon be operational at Dadar, Kurla, Wadala and Mulund railway stations. While the consultation fee in the clinics is just Re 1, a blood pressure check-up can be done here free of cost. The fee for other tests is also nominal. Blood Sugar Fee is Rs 25, Nebulizer Fee is Rs 30, ECG to cost Rs 50, dressing fee is Rs 50 and IV Fluid fee is Rs 100.
